Montreal Naginata Dojo History
Founder
Antoine Fromentan Sensei is the founder of Naginata Montreal.
He began practicing Naginata under Exbrayat Sensei in France in 1999, and after moving to Canada he continued practicing naginata under the late Miyako Tanaka Price Sensei (Hanshi), competing in the Canadian Championships and the World Championships and earned the INF 4th Dan. He also served as the president of the CNF from 2016 to 2021. He currently practices mainly Koryu Naginatajutsu (Tendo-ryu), and although he is retired from Atarashi Naginata, he continues to give valuable advice to students at his dojo.

Current Instructors
From September 2022, Daiki and Birgit Siegert-Iriyama (both 2 Dan as of 2025) took over Naginata Montreal from Antoine Sensei and are teaching the Atarashi Naginata. They have also been serving as CNF officers since 2021.
